Man Utd captain Maguire arrested after ‘suspected accident’ in Greece

Harry Maguire arrest: The Manchester United captain was arrested on Thursday following a “suspected incident” on the Greek island of Mykonos, the club confirmed on Friday.

UPDATE: Sky Sports has shed light on the alleged situation following a Greek police statement. There was an alleged altercation between three foreigners and police officers, as well as allegations of bribery to avoid prosecution and a trial after the incident. “The club are aware of an alleged incident involving Harry Maguire in Mykonos last night,” Man United said in a brief statement. “Contacts have been made with Harry and he is fully cooperating with the Greek authorities. At this time, we will not be commenting further ”

Maguire has since been transferred to Syros, another of the Greek islands, where he is currently being held. Police continue to investigate the case.

United ended the season with a Europa League semi-final loss to Sevilla. Players are currently enjoying a short break before showing up for the start of the 2020-21 Premier League season, which begins on September 12. However, due to their participation in UEL, United will receive an additional week early. they will restart their season at Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on September 19.
